ROAD TRIP TO ATLANTA, GA
We started off the summer on a trip with my parent's & brother to Atlanta, GA to visit my (Christi's) aunts, uncles and cousins. We had such a wonderful time visiting with everyone and relaxing. Great way to start the summer! We got a tour of a lumber/mulching facility that my cousin works at which was SUPER cool. We also went to Stone Mountain National Park, something I did as a child, where we got to climb stone mountain and take the kids on an adventure ropes course.
LOTS of swimming!
Little Bubba rode up the tram car with Grammy/Granddaddy though.
The mountain was actually tougher than I remember - whew!
PLUMBING - PLUMBING - MORE PLUMBING!!
When we purchased our home in May, we knew there were plumbing issues that needed to be fixed. All that was worked into the sellers contract. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned and it turned out more extensive that we ever imagined. For the next 5 weeks we had minimal plumbing in certain areas of the house and often none during the day. The boys stayed with grandparents for over a week during this. The rest of the time, swimming lessons and staying at friend's houses kepts us occupied. Needless to say, it was an adventure!! The Lord's ways are always good though and we grew together ALOT as a family!
The boys all took 2 weeks of swim lessons this year. Bubba B. and Bubba learned new strokes and some safety techniques and Little Bubba finally became comfortable jumping completely in the water without being caught. YAY! Sadly, I didn't take any pictures! Getting out of the house every day while plumbers where arriving kinda threw me for a loop! :)
WE GOT A POOL!!!
Yes, we finally have a place level for an above ground pool to go! The boys have spent almost every day in their pool. Little bubba has even learned how to swim now thanks to so much practice and gaining confidence in the pool. With the Texas heat wave this summer, it was a JOY and mom's retreat too!
HAHA - no, that's not the pool! But we did enjoy this too!!
The only place to be when it's 112! THIS is our pool!
4th OFJULY RODEO
This is a huge highlight for our family every year. Attending the annual rodeo where Christi grew up. The boys are determined that they will catch that calf in the calf scramble before they outgrow it! Bubba B. was SO close this year!
JULY & AUGUST are a complete blur of heat exhaustion and trying to find ways to stay cool! We spent alot of time in doors playing games, watching "too" many movies, and having friends over to play. It's almost the end of Sept. and the boys are finally figuring out they have a "cool" backyard to play in! LOL! The only time we really ever went outside was to swim. We do have a game room in our new home with a pool table that came with the house! The boys are becoming little pro's and we have alot of game nights!
HAPPY 15th ANNIVERSARY to US! (Aug 17th)
We had BIG plans for our anniversary this year! Unfortunately, plumbing expenses knocked it down to just "nice" plans. Then we got our utility bill for water & electricity while being in the middle of a heat wave/drought and trying to keep our yard green. THAT knocked it down to sending the boys to grandma's/pa's for an overnighter and having a datenight at home. It was great though and we love watching the Lord provide for our every need. He's always faithful and it was a great opportunity to help the boys understand financial responsibility! (...even when it is kinda painful.) :)
...and this is the only picture I got - ooops!
He has gotten so big, yet, he's still such a baby to us. He is also SUPER competitive trying to keep up with those bigger brothers of his. He's confident he can do anything they can and he loves to tell them about it too! haha His older brother's think he's just about the cutest thing they've ever seen and say so often. This doesn't help his little (BIG) ego at all! :) He's still our all around sports fan and LOVES to be outdoors doing anything. He chose a Monster Truck birthday party and had TONS of fun with so many friends!
