Swimming Lessons!!

This Monday marked the beginning of our summer water adventures as the boys started up swimming lessons at our indoor Natatorium. Nathan is taking the parent/toddler class and Brady is in the 3-4yr old class. TheyLOVED it!! To our surprise, Brady has really matured in the last year with his fear of water. He's always loved the water but just didn't enjoy lying on his back or the swimming part of it last year when he took swimming lessons. This year he is in a class with 3 other children all by himself - no mommy or daddy!! I must admit it tore at my heart just to walk away and watch from the sidelines but Brady did so great. We were a little concerned that he wouldn't want to be in a class without one of us just because that has been his personality in the past. Not this time. He was such a big boy and just smiled with a look of confidence that reassured us he's really starting to grow-up. He followed instructions, listened to his teachers and had a great time. It was a wonderful comfort to Brandon and I to see how he would do under someone he didn't knows authority since he gets very few of those opportunities. He's been in alot of fun classes (music, gymnastics, etc...) but up until this point it's always been with Mommy assisting him. We've had 2 classes now and he's already picked up on how to use a kick board to get across the pool!

Nathan's class mainly plays games to get them comfortable with the water. So far, Brandon has been with him but I'll get my chance to get in on the fun next week! They blow bubbles, learn lying on their back and kicking, all of which Nathan has really enjoyed. Nathan's favorite is jumping off the side of the pool, of course! The only downfall to that is Nathan prefers to jump in where Brandon is not standing. He purposely walks a little ways down from him, says "Daddy move" and then jumps!! It should be a VERY FUN SUMMER!!! (or at least an adventurous one watching Nathan's every move!)
