January Update

January has been a busy, adventurous and fun month for our family. When it's cold outside you have to be constantly creative with 3 very active boys. They had started climbing the walls SO each of them pitched in some money to purchase an indoor trampoline! Maybe our furniture will make it through winter afterall!

Bubba B. also began basketball. This year is a drastic change from previous years. They play REAL basketball and it actually looks like a competitive game. He is advancing well and loves playing, especially with his Dad as coach!


We also celebrated Bubba B's adoption day. He chose to celebrate at Chuck-E-Cheese and we all had a wonderful night together celebrating the blessed way God brought him into our family.

The boys homeschool enrichment school had their annual talent show this past week. Although Bubba B and Bubba both had planned to participate, Bubba decided he wasn't quite prepared so it was just Bubba B. He decided to do a Lego presentation and it turned out really well! He asked the audience for 5 suggestions of what to build and then he went off, built one of them and presented it. It was really cute and he did a great job public speaking! He told me at the end, "Mom, I got butterfly's!" It was definitely a proud mommy moment!



The first 3 weeks of Jan. we studied Africa in homeschool. We really enjoyed learning all about Kenya, Egypt and Madagascar. DID YOU KNOW that 80% of all Madagascar animals are endemic - meaning they only exist and live in Madagascar? AND one of those animals are Lemurs. The movie "Madagascar" made so much more sense after learning that! LOL! I'm sure I learned this at some point but learning it again with 3 kids is SO much more fun!

Egyptian men wear jewelry for respect so they made hieroglyphic jewelry! They also made me a beautiful Egyptian woman's necklace and a home made clay Sphinx and pyramid.

Happy Birthday, BUBBA!!! etc....

I have been wanting, trying and attempting to update our blog with Bubba B's basketball pictures, adoption day, Bubba's karate, Christmas and now his birthday AND well, I'm still attempting!! :) Trying to stay on top of homeschool, all the boys events, holidays, ministry, trying to sell our home and hmmm....everything else has proven wonderfully fun and a bit time consuming. I apologize for not having this blog updated but it WILL be done and completely caught up before the end of next week! (of course, Lord willing!)

Bubba had a WONDERFUL birthday today. In keeping tradition, he went with Daddy to get kolaches and donuts! He also got a day off from homeschool which I think was his favorite. :) We went to his favorite park and played then it was off to our geography club meeting where they had it all sweetly decorate for him. He requested my homeade chicken enchiladas for dinner and then it was off for karate lessons! The night ended with ice cream at Braums with his favorite flavor, birthday cake, after bed time!! What better way to bring in a new birth year!! haha We have been preparing for weeks for Bubba's big party this Saturday. He will be having a Medieval Knights Tournament complete with jousting, archery and everything he saw last year at Medieval Times. :) Our house is slowly being transformed into a castle!! Hopefully tomorrow we can finish all the final touches before the big day. Nathan is SOOOOO excited!! So are we!

I will write up Bubba's birthday update and get that posted with pictures this next week along with all the other updates. This weekend will be filled with celebrating! OH, and their school talent show tomorrow night and a basketball game! Stay tuned......
